Each year, industries such as Waste-to-Energy, Cement and Biomass for power generation, send millions of tonnes of thermal residues to landfill. At the same time, these thermal processes produce significant amounts of carbon dioxide that are released into the atmosphere.
We welcome other technological approaches to Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) to help decarbonise industry, and believe success will come from joined-up efforts. We are also acutely aware of the cost barrier to implementing these technologies. Our approach is to enable an economically attractive method of realising CCU today.
While the products these industries make are a necessary part of our economy, these two waste streams are not. We view CO₂ and landfill destined residues as resource – ingredients
to engineer valuable, low-carbon products.
